If you're anything like me, you’ve probably had those days, where you’re trying to eat clean, but your stomach’s growling an hour after breakfast, and suddenly that bag of chips is calling your name.
Same. Been there. A lot.
So today I want to share something that seriously changed the game for me when I was trying to lose weight (without losing my mind): a simple homemade health mix.
It’s super easy to make, packed with good stuff, and most importantly – it actually keeps you full and satisfied. No weird powders or overpriced supplements. Just real food.
What is a health mix?
It’s basically a blend of roasted grains, legumes, seeds, and nuts – ground into a powder that you can use to make porridge, smoothies, or even sneak into regular meals.
It’s high in fiber and protein, which is exactly what you need when you’re trying to lose weight the healthy way. No crash diets. No starvation. Just slow, steady, feel-good progress.
Healthmix for weight loss (What I put in mine)
Ragi (Finger Millet) – 1 cup
A great source of fiber and protein, ragi helps control blood sugar levels and keeps you fuller for longer. It’s also rich in antioxidants.
Browntop Millet – ½ cup Another fantastic millet that’s low in glycemic index, keeps you energized, and boosts metabolism.
Mapillai Samba Rice – ½ cup Rich in nutrients and fiber, this rice provides a slow release of energy and helps curb hunger.
Karuppu Kavuni Rice (Black Rice) – ½ cup Known for its high antioxidant content, it aids in reducing fat accumulation and helps in improving metabolism.
Green Gram (Whole Moong) – ½ cup Packed with protein and very light on the stomach, moong dal is great for digestion and weight management.
Black Urad Dal – 2 tbsp Helps in detoxification, improving metabolism, and balancing blood sugar levels.
Rajma (Kidney Beans) – ½ cup Rich in protein and fiber, kidney beans keep you full and help regulate blood sugar levels.
Almonds – ¼ cup Healthy fats from almonds are great for curbing cravings and supporting brain function.
Flax Seeds – ¼ cup A rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseeds help promote fat loss and improve digestion.
Chia Seeds – 2 tbsp Chia seeds absorb water and expand in your stomach, promoting fullness and better digestion.
Sesame Seeds – 2 tbsp Rich in calcium and healthy fats, sesame seeds help in regulating cholesterol and improving metabolism.
Sunflower Seeds – 2 tbsp High in vitamin E and magnesium, sunflower seeds help improve digestion and reduce inflammation.
Makhana (Fox Nuts) – ¼ cup Makhana is low in calories but high in protein and fiber, which makes it a great weight loss snack.
Rajgira (Amaranth) – ½ cup Rich in protein, fiber, and essential vitamins, rajgira supports digestion and boosts energy. If you're not up for making it yourself, here's a great health mix you can buy instead!
How to make it (don’t worry, it’s easy):
Roast each ingredient separately in a dry pan on low heat until it smells toasty and nice.
Let them cool completely.
Grind everything together into a fine powder. A blender or mixie works just fine.
Store it in an airtight jar – it’ll last for weeks.
That’s it. You’ve just made your health mix. Go you.
How to use it:
Morning porridge (my fave):
2 tbsp of the mix
1 cup of water or milk (like almond or oat)
A tiny pinch of salt or a bit of jaggery if you like it sweet
Stir on low heat till it thickens (takes about 5–7 mins)
I usually top it with a few nuts or banana slices. It’s comforting, filling, and doesn’t make me feel sluggish.
You can also throw a spoonful into smoothies or mix it with curd for a quick savory meal. Honestly, get creative.

Why does this health mix work for weight loss?
So why do these ingredients come together in the perfect weight loss health mix? Let’s break it down:
High in protein: Protein is essential for muscle growth and repair. It also helps you stay fuller longer, preventing those mid-afternoon snack attacks. Ingredients like moong dal, rajma, almonds, and flaxseeds are all great sources of plant-based protein.
Packed with fiber: Fiber is the secret to staying full without overeating. It slows down digestion, so your body absorbs nutrients gradually and you don’t feel hungry right after eating. Ingredients like ragi, brown rice, chia seeds, and flaxseeds provide tons of fiber, helping with digestion and weight control.
Healthy fats: Healthy fats are crucial for proper brain function and hormone balance. The healthy fats in almonds, flaxseeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds help curb cravings and promote fat loss by keeping you satisfied for longer.
Boosts metabolism: Ingredients like flaxseeds, chia seeds, sesame seeds, and cumin can help increase your metabolic rate, meaning your body burns more calories at rest. A faster metabolism makes weight loss a little easier, without the need for extreme dieting or exercise.
Gut health support: The combination of moong dal, rajma, cumin, and fenugreek seeds improves digestion and keeps everything running smoothly. A healthy gut is vital for weight loss because it ensures your body is absorbing nutrients efficiently and flushing out toxins.
Why this works (at least for me):
It keeps me full for hours – no mid-morning cravings.
It’s all natural – no weird ingredients I can’t pronounce.
It helped improve my digestion and energy levels big time.
And it just feels good to know I’m feeding my body something wholesome.
Final thoughts
Look, weight loss doesn’t need to be complicated. You don’t need to skip meals or survive on lettuce. Just give your body real, nourishing food consistently.
This health mix? It’s simple, budget-friendly, and tastes good. Give it a shot for a week or two. Your body (and your snack cravings) will definitely notice the difference.
